The Treasured Relationship with Christ

I have noticed that the more I treasure a relationship with someone the easier it is for me to be convinced to do something.

If I am married, I don't have to be talked into getting pickles and ice cream  at 3 a.m. no matter how ridiculous it sounds.

If my child is asking me for money to bail him out a speeding ticket, it doesn't take much talking to get me to the ATM.

If my grandparents needed the lawn mowed, I didn't have to be asked twice to run over  and mow the lawn.

If my nephew needs a water gun - it's a no brainer.

This is because of the love component in our relationships.

I think about the love in my relationship with Jesus when I come across these verses.

Joh 14:21  He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

Joh 14:23  Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

The more we love Jesus the less  we need to be convinced to  treasure His words and keep His commands.

  1. Good word - I like the link between love and doing what is requested of us.
    Thanks!
