He's Got Your Song

"A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words."

I don't know who originally said that but I like it very much. For me, that friend is only one person: Jesus. Over the years, I have often "forgotten the words." In fact, there were a great many years when I ignored and even rejected my friend and yet he kept my song snugly tucked in his keeping until I was ready to sing again.

There have been times in life when words failed me trying to explain what I was going through. It seemed I couldn't even explain it to myself. Yet deep down I always knew that there was one who understood me better than I understood myself. On top of that, he believed in me and knew that in just the right time, he would start my little song and prompt me to sing it once again.

I don't know what you have been through - maybe life has been very rough. Any hopes you started with were abandoned long ago. Maybe you aren't even sure anymore what those hopes or dreams were. But just because you forgot doesn't mean they are lost. Believe me they are not lost. There is a friend named Jesus. Call him up. He's got your song.

Surrendering All to God

Surrendering all to God is not a simple and easy thing to do. It is difficult, because surrendering means giving up. In our culture we are not taught to give up easily. We are mostly taught to hold on to things and press on to get, what we want. But, this is not how it works with God.

The truth is that He is the one, who is control. When you surrender to God – your life, your family, or other circumstances, – you have to give up the control over them to Him. It is like you are no longer steering your own car. You give the wheel to someone else. You are not in charge any more.

This does not mean you have to give up on your life and surrender to all the negative things or circumstances in it. God is the only one we should give up or surrender to. And, we have a good reason to do so: He loves us! He is the one, we can trust. And, He is in control of the entire Universe around us. The only thing He is NOT in control of is what’s inside you, of your soul. He cannot and will not surrender your soul to Himself without your permission. He has given you the free will and will not break it.

Just imagine the One, Who is in control of the hurricanes, mountains, of heaven and earth, but not of your soul. It is only up to you to surrender it to Him and let Him do the good work in you and perfect you.

Prayer suggestion: Humble yourself to the Lord and let Him take over your soul and spirit in your prayer. He will not hurt you. Ask Him to build up your trust to Him.

“For nothing will be impossible with God” -Luke 1:37

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” -Philippians 4:13

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.” -Proverbs 16:3

Exploring Christianity and Violence

I recently had the privilege of interviewing Evangelist  Jeremy Hodges from Google plus.  We explored the New Testament position on violence.  There was a particular emphasis on Self Defense.

***Warning ***  This topic is extremely unpopular and may challenge your current beliefs.

What does the New Testament say about violence?
What does the New Testament say about self Defense?

I encourage you to take a listen as we explore some recent threads I posted relevant to these topics.  You can find most of the links here!  http://goo.gl/oSt83

Below you will find a lot of the scripture references that we discussed - and then some.

Strap on your seat belts as you put on your headphones and ask yourself  - "What does the New Testament say?"

As you listen ask yourself  - "Are there any post cross scriptures that encourage self defense by using physical violence?"

Love, Pray, and do good to our enemies  -Matthew 5:44

Praise Report from the Wilderness

Sometimes I  have to laugh out loud.

As you know, I have been on a faith walk for several months now.  Glynda Lomax has been holding my hand through this rough time and even mentioned me a couple of times in her new book “The Wilderness Companion”.

I often ask myself how I got into this situation.   I start blaming myself for poor decisions and second-guessing. I have to remind myself, God didn’t withhold manna from those that made poor decisions.  Jesus did not withhold bread from the people that sinned or made poor investments.  He fed them all during their time in the wilderness.

Today is an amazing example of my wilderness walk.

I woke up, still in overwhelming debt.  It was the first thing on my mind as my eyes opened.  I had to force myself to listen to the bible and pray.

This morning, I listened to the bible as the caffeine was kicking in.  It was raining, so I did not go on a Morning Prayer walk.  My mind was observing the storm in my life.  Looking back, I skipped prayer altogether.  I resolved to solving my problem on my own and not casting my care upon Him.

After a while, I noticed that the vision was blurry out of my left eye.  This meant my contact lens fell out.  My last contact lens.  If I didn’t lose the lens, then it was stuck in my eye and I would have to pay someone to get it out with my last few dollars.  If it was lost, then I have to go without seeing until I can afford more lenses.

Then I looked at my bank balance and wondered how I was going to survive the month.

I started  looking at the storm and I sank to my knees in despair.  I dropped down to the floor and prayed the most pitiful prayer.  It was very humbling to beg God.  As I prayed, I realized that I forgot to pray first thing this morning and I put my carnal way of thinking before His Way.

I told God that I was sorry that I skipped prayer this morning.  I was sorry for my sin.  I was sorry for trying to solve my problems my way instead of His way.  It was a humbling experience.

I got back to work in front of my computer.  After a few minutes, I felt compelled to look down.  There was my contact lens on the keyboard.  I was so excited that I decided to text my brother about finding the lens so that he could rejoice with me.

Then at that precise moment, I get a phone call saying that I will receive a $500 check this week.  Two instances of good news at  the same time! Now  - THAT is God!

I give all the glory to God for this.  He is faithful and true to His Word.

You may have noticed that I have been behind on the blog, podcasts, and videos.  I have been writing a book about my experiences in the supernatural. The book is almost finished and will be released soon.

I covet your prayers.
