Tonight we continued our weekly Bible study on the Sermon on the Mount. Some of the topics we discussed included:




  • The world takes the easy path that leads to destruction
  • False prophets like to tickle your ears
  • The fruit will follow naturally if we abide in the Word
  • The path is strait and narrow - "Few there be that find it."

Confessing God's Word over your Circumstances

I have run into some bad circumstances throughout the storms of my life.   Through these trials I have  learned that God's Word is true and faithful  (Proverbs 30:5). It is my application and measure of faith that seems to be the problem. I have testified  over and over again how God has been meeting my needs miraculously right about when my bills were due. I have yet been forced to sleep outside. I have yet to lack any clothing. I have yet to lack any drink.  All of my needs have been met.  Even to the point of maintaining transportation, and keeping my praise equipment, and electronics up to snuff. There is this raging battle between what we see and what the Spirit or Word of God tells us (2 Corinthians 5:7).  We must forcibly keep our eyes upon Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith. Exploring loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. The Bible establishes the precept that we should have a better relationship with our heavenly Father than we do with our families. Who wants to Be a Millionaire? Not Me!!

There are a lot of people out there who want wealth, power, and pleasure.  I mean the thought of it sounds great to me at first! I could spend hours of time fantasizing about how I would spend a million dollars. People ask each other all the time, "What would you do if you had a million dollars?" In the Bible there was a rich young ruler who came to Jesus. Matthew 19:13-26 , Mark 10:17-29 and Luke 18:18-29 I mean this guy had it all. He is young, (good start) rich (very comfortable and happy) and a ruler (admired, important, esteemed, powerful). In the account, this man comes to Jesus with a big question, the biggest question. He wants eternal life, he wants a security that money and power cannot buy. He is looking to the good Rabbi, teacher, to help him in this quest. Yet Jesus first responds to him with a definition of "good", stating only God is good.
